Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10, 1949. She is an American investor, speaker and consultant. She co-founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001 and shortly after, she left the company. Corcoran, one of ABC's first Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. She has participated in 53 deals since February 2020. The largest was a $350,000 investment that will pay for 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran’s childhood. Her family sometimes relied on free delivery of food from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran recalls that her father was a drunkard who sometimes treated her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially when he had been drinking. Corcoran was a struggle throughout her education before discovering that she was dyslexic. Corcoran began high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her time at a Catholic primary school. Corcoran, who had failed many classes during her freshman year, transferred to Leonia High School. There, she received a D.
